In this Privacy Policy (“Policy”), we explain how and why we process your personal data and what your rights are, to help you make informed decisions when using our website at takeitpersonally.app (the “Site”), the web portal for Businesses at portal.mytip.app, the web app for Tippers at guest.mytip.app (together, the “Web App”), and the mobile application (“the App”). We refer to the Site, the Web App, and the App together as “the Platform.”
Please read this Policy carefully so that you understand it. This Policy should be read together with our Terms of Service. This Policy applies to personal data we process about users of the Platform in the United Kingdom.
This Policy applies only to personal data we obtain, whether directly from you or from a third party. It does not cover personal data collected by third parties through your interactions with them or your use of their products or services, including if you follow a link from our Platform to a third-party website or application.
The Platform is provided, and your personal data is controlled, by Take it Personally B.V., a private limited company (besloten vennootschap) incorporated under the laws of the Netherlands, with its registered office at Daalwijkdreef 47, 1103 AD Amsterdam, Netherlands, registered with the Netherlands Chamber of Commerce (KvK) under number 75777568 (“Take it Personally,” “we,” “us,” “our”). We are the controller of personal data processed through the Platform in the United Kingdom.
You can contact us with any questions, or to exercise a privacy right, by emailing legal@mytip.app.
We collect and process personal data from the following categories of individuals:
The Platform is intended for users aged 16 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 16. If you believe a person under 16 has provided us personal data, please contact us at legal@mytip.app and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.
The types of personal data we collect depend on how you use the Platform. In general:
Payment and identity verification data is handled by Stripe, not by us. We use Stripe as our third-party payment processor. As part of account creation, a Tipped Worker completes onboarding directly with Stripe, which collects identity-verification (KYC) information and financial data (such as bank account details and tax information). We do not collect or store this information; it is processed by Stripe under Stripe’s own privacy practices.
Under UK data protection law, we must have a lawful basis for processing your personal data. The table below sets out what we do, why, and the lawful basis we rely on.
What we do | Why | Lawful basis |
|---|---|---|
Create and service your account; act as your commercial agent to collect and pay out tips | To provide the services you sign up for | Performance of a contract with you |
Process and allocate tips, and provide payout and transaction information | To deliver tips to the correct Tipped Worker and operate the Platform | Performance of a contract; legitimate interests in operating the Platform |
Verify your identity and prevent fraud and money laundering | To keep the Platform safe and lawful | Legal obligation; legitimate interests in preventing fraud |
Generate recognition and performance information | To recognise top performers and support worker welfare | Legitimate interests in supporting recognition, balanced against your rights |
Understand and improve how the Platform is used | To evaluate, secure, and improve the Platform | Legitimate interests in improving our services |
Send you service messages | To keep you informed about your account and tips | Performance of a contract; legitimate interests |
Send you marketing (where applicable) | To tell you about features and offers | Consent, where required, which you can withdraw at any time |
Keep transaction and business records | To meet financial, tax, and legal requirements | Legal obligation |
Respond to your questions, complaints, or rights requests | To support you and comply with the law | Legitimate interests; legal obligation |
Where we rely on legitimate interests, we have considered whether those interests are overridden by your interests or rights, and we have concluded they are not. You can ask us for more information about this assessment by contacting legal@mytip.app.
Automated decision-making. We do not make decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects about you based solely on automated processing. Recognition and any related determinations reflect human judgment; the Platform provides information to support that judgment but does not make automated decisions that affect your employment, pay, or similar interests.
Your Tipped Worker account belongs to you and stays with you across employers. If you work at one Business and later work at another that uses the Platform, you keep the same account and history. Each Business you work with sees information relating to your activity at its own location only; a Business does not receive your tip data, history, or other account information relating to any other employer. We maintain these data boundaries between employers.
We share personal data only as described below, with appropriate safeguards:
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share your personal data for cross-context behavioural advertising or targeted advertising.
We are established in the Netherlands, and some of our service providers (including Stripe) operate outside the United Kingdom. Where we transfer your personal data outside the UK, we make sure it is protected by an appropriate safeguard recognised under UK data protection law — for example, transfers to countries the UK Government has decided provide adequate protection, or transfers made under the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or the UK Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses. You can ask us for more information about the safeguards we use by emailing legal@mytip.app.
After a Tipper sends a tip or thank-you note, the Platform may invite the Tipper to leave a review of the Business on a third-party review platform (by default, the Business’s listing on Google). If you choose to leave a review, you are directed to that third-party platform, and your activity there is governed by that platform’s own terms and privacy policy, not this Policy. We do not collect, store, or control reviews submitted on third-party platforms. The same applies to any other third-party website or service you reach through a link on our Platform.
We and our partners use cookies, web beacons, and pixel tags (“Cookies”) to collect Technical Data from the devices you use to access the Platform or read our emails. We use this data to understand how the Platform is used, to evaluate and improve it, to remember your preferences, and to help with account login.
We do not use Cookies to sell your personal data or to share it for advertising across other websites or services. Where required by law, we ask for your consent before setting non-essential Cookies. You can block or disable Cookies through your browser settings, though some parts of the Platform may not work as expected if you do. You can also stop all collection of data by the App by uninstalling it.
Under UK data protection law, you have the following rights in relation to your personal data:
You can exercise these rights at any time:
Exercising your rights is free of charge in most cases. We will tell you if a fee applies (which the law allows only in limited circumstances, such as for manifestly unfounded or excessive requests).
Complaints. If you are unhappy with how we handle your personal data, please contact us first so we can try to put it right. You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk, or to the data protection authority in the country where you live or work.
We keep personal data for as long as necessary for the purposes described in this Policy, considering the amount and sensitivity of the data, the risk of unauthorised use, and applicable legal requirements. In general:
We implement appropriate administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal data, including encryption of sensitive data in transit and at rest. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. If we become aware of a personal data breach that is likely to result in a risk to your rights, we will notify the ICO and, where required, you, in accordance with our legal obligations.
You can contact us with any questions, complaints, or to exercise a privacy right by emailing legal@mytip.app.
If there are important changes in how we process your personal data, or in the laws that apply to us, we will update this Policy to reflect those changes. We will indicate the date of the latest update at the end of this Policy and may also notify you by email or through your account.
This Privacy Policy was last updated May 2025.
